Eva was looking at the tiny glass jar she held between her fingers, her eyes squinted, "Are you sure this is the right measurement?"

Loki didn't really look up from what he was doing which was chopping herbs, and halfway nodded, "Yes, yes, of course it is. I measured it myself. It's a perfect quarter of a teaspoon."

"It may be a perfect quarter of a teaspoon for you," she replied as she tapped the jar, "But we're talking about my risotto, and my recipe."

"And I am sorry to say this, my dear," Loki said, gathering the chopped herbs into a bowl, "but your recipe runs a touch, shall we say, mild?"

"Loki! I can't believe you just said that!"

He raised his hands, "My apologies, love, but it does."

Eva glared at him then she raised an eyebrow, "Mild, huh?"

He nodded, his eyes glinting, "It's entirely too cautious. I mean after it's risotto! It needs a little dramatic flair!"

"But saffron is dramatic flair! I mean it's... it's the Beyoncé of the spice world!"

"Precisely, love, so allow her or rather the saffron, take center stage in your recipe."

Eva sighed, shaking her head because blast it, he had a point she had to admit. But would she entirely admit that out loud?

"Fine. Fine! Add your dramatic flair!"

Loki grinned as though he'd won a grand prize and perhaps, with his wife and partner, he had. But then, when he reached out to take the jar from her, he paused, "Together?"

Eva blinked then smiled, nodded, "Together."

Together, they gathered their pinches, and added the red threads to the broth that she would use to prepare the risotto with.

As she watched it swirl into the depths, she nudged him with her elbow, "You know, if the risotto is too saffrony, you will be the one explaining it to the lunch party."

Loki smirked, then said, "Gladly. I will simply tell them that we finally decided to truly embrace the flavor."

Rhodey sat on the other side of the glass partition, hands resting on the table, watching the way Tony's hands balled into fists. They should have been holding the hands of his wife or children instead of being bound to the cold metal in front of him. The sound of the metal clinking each time he moved them the slightest made Rhodey's stomach twist.

"You know, you shouldn't be here," Tony muttered, "You have got nothing to gain by it.... and probably a lot to lose with your bosses if they take notice."

Too late, they already had noticed and I did, Rhodey thought to himself.

Then aloud, "That isn't how friendship or being someone's brother works."

Tony's mouth twisted into a deeper frown as he shook his head, "No, in this case that's exactly how it works. You're sticking your neck out for an idiot who can't return the favor. What do you think this is? Some kind of test? Are you trying to prove something, Rhodes?"

Leaning forward, Rhodey retorted, "Maybe I am trying to prove just how stubborn I am? Or I want the world to know I don't care? Hmm?"

Tony's gaze went soft, only for a second though before he said in a quiet voice, "Thank you."
