 "Class of two thousand thirty-three: DISMISSED!" 

 

A shout of five hundred voices and a shower of hats followed the dismissal. 

 

A surge of families surged forward to hug and congratulate the newest members of the city's police force.

 

Monica turned to her husband, "Do you see him?"

 

James shakes his head, "No, not yet. There are way too many people. Oh, wait! I think I see him." He grabbed her hand, and said, "Come on!"

 

Monica trusted her husband to guide her through the throng of people, and soon her nephew's voice was greeting her ears.

 

"Maunt! Dadu!" 

 

There were a few people between them, and him but Colton didn't let that stop him from getting to them. He went to his aunt first, and wrapped her up in a tight hug. He then hugged the man who had helped her to finish raising him before pulling back to look at them both.

 

"I'm so glad you both came!" Colton said.

 

"Oh honey, we wouldn't have missed this for the world!" Monica said, wrapping an arm around his waist. "Yeah don't you know just how proud of you, your Maunt and I are? Top of your class!"

 

Colton blushed, "Well not **the** top. I mean I came in at sixty-three!"

 

"In ac class out of five hundred that's really great, sweetie."

 

He blushed again, smiling before he grew serious, "Do you think they'd be proud of me too, Maunt?"

 

"Who?"

 

"My Mom and Dad? Grandpa?"

 

"Oh honey, they're proud of you now because I really believe they saw you graduated from the academy today."

 

Colton sighed, "I hope so."

 

Monica hugged him again, "They saw, sweetie, they saw. But you know what?"

 

"What?"

 

"They can't be any prouder of you than I am at this moment. I'm so proud I don't think I could feel any prouder if I was actually your mother."

 

"Oh, maunt..."

 

"I mean what I'm saying, Colton. You've grown into an amazing young man, and I know you're going to be an amazing policeman. I love you."
